Tuesday Tantalizers is pleased to welcome Elodie Parks and her new release, The Winter Girl. Elodie, why don't we start off with a bit about you.

Hi Christi, thank you for inviting me to the blog today.
Here’s a little about me for your readers.

I live in rural England, United Kingdom and I work in an antiques shop as well as writing. I have two dogs that keep me fit with their need for walks. Love the countryside and the coast.
I write romance, contemporary, and erotic with a twist of mystery, suspense, or the paranormal, now and then. I like to make the story unusual in some way, by a quirk in the tale.

I started writing when I was seventeen. Life intervened in my writing time and I stopped serious writing for some time. I started writing again seriously a couple of years ago, because I had so many stories in my head.

I have an erotic romance released June 14 from Hot Ink Press. Titled The Winter Girl it’s contemporary, erotic romance with a little twist of magic. I loved writing this book. My hero Starr Forrester is to die for.

Please give us a little taste of the plot of The Winter Girl.

Lily Prescott is only just over a relationship break up when she decides to take up residence in a house left to her by her recently deceased grandmother. Her corporate law job takes a back seat as she licks her wounds in the small country town. She looks around the main shopping street and discovers people who will befriend her, but she also runs into the town’s most eligible bachelor and secret bad boy, Starr Forrester.

Loved for his lifelong association with the town, Starr hides his methods for staying single well from his friends. He’s nearly thirty, gorgeous, a designer, owns a business and on the lookout for his ‘Winter Girl’….

Will it be Lily? What is a ‘Winter girl’?

Fun, sex, romance and a little twist of the paranormal, makes this a must read.

How about a teaser from the book?

The Winter Girl: Released by Hot Ink Press June 14

Excerpt 18+
“Lily we need to close the door. It’s freezing outside. Lily.”
She couldn’t let him go. She shuffled him away from the door and Ash followed her kissing down her neck as she pushed the door closed, somehow managing to suck his earlobe into her mouth as she did.
Ash pulled her sweater over her head and kissed along the top of her breasts. He couldn’t find a way to open her lacy bra and so he unzipped her jeans and pushed them down to mid-thigh as he kissed her so sexily Lily made little throaty sounds of enjoyment.
She had his jeans open and she plunged her hand down inside to hold his cock. Ash pushed into her hand and groaned. He thrust his hips a little. He was kneading her bottom and then pulled her underwear away to feel her skin and run his fingers along the insides of her thighs. Lily opened her mouth to his tongue as she cupped his balls in one hand and grasped his cock with the other.
Ash circled her clit with a fingertip and then pushed it into her. ‘She’s ready. She’s delicious, so hot.’ He sucked along her neck and down to a breast as he pushed two fingers in and out of her. Lily murmured her pleasure.
“Ash, I want you naked.”
He smiled a little as he kissed her mouth, the side of her mouth and then bit her shoulder softly. He looked up and into her eyes.
“I want you naked. I can’t open your bra.” He removed his fingers from her and Lily groaned. He picked her up. He walked through the nearest door, to what he hoped was a living room. The room had a sofa and he put Lily down following with his own body so that he leaned over her and sucked a nipple into his mouth through the lace of her bra. He stripped off her jeans and underwear in one. His fingers found her wet entrance again and Lily moaned into his mouth as he pushed them into her.

Tuesday Tantalizers is pleased to welcome Ella Jade, author of the brand-new BDSM novel, Surrender to Me. Ella, tell us a bit about your new book.

I’m pleased to announce the release of Surrender to Me, the sequel to Make Me Stay.

What happens when a Dominant falls for his not-so-submissive attorney?

Martin Abrams, owner of Master M's BDSM club, has become unfulfilled with his lifestyle. Ever since his sub, Gracie, left to marry her true love, Martin has lost his way. Living the life of the head Dominant in his circle isn't as appealing as it once was. Something seems to be missing.

Sassy lawyer Arianna Covington relocates to New York City after a humiliating divorce. She's looking for a fresh start when she agrees to become Martin's exclusive attorney. She's intrigued by his domineering personality and wants to know why women kneel at his feet.

Their attraction is undeniable despite Ari's initial beliefs that she will never submit to Martin's
desires. But Martin is up for the challenge. Arianna is more than he ever imagined in a woman. He vows to claim her heart, with or without the games. Who will surrender first?

Featuring Cade and Gracie from Make Me Stay. Check out the hot and sexy trailer for a peek into the plot.

Ella, we are so ready for a taste of the book. Excerpt, please!

“All the subs act that way around you?” Arianna asked.

“It’s the only way they know. It’s what’s expected of them.”

“I don’t understand how any woman would bow down like that. It’s not normal.”

“Maybe not for you.” Martin understood Arianna’s position. Most who didn’t participate in a Dominant and submissive relationship didn’t get it.

“It’s degrading. She can’t use the phone. She’s a grown woman.”

“Arianna, this is a lifestyle you can’t possibly comprehend because you know nothing about it. A submissive gets just as much as he or she gives. The arrangement they enter into with a Dom is consensual. Roxy is not forced into being here. Her Dom respects and cares for her. She has a very good life.”

“He punishes her.”

“When she disobeys. It’s in her contract.”

“A contract that can’t possibly be enforced in court.”

“Spoken like a true lawyer.” He finished his scotch. “The contract is to protect them both. It lists what is expected of a sub and what the Dominant’s responsibilities are. They outline hard and soft limits. We create a safe, sane, and consensual environment, and that contract maintains trust between the two parties. As long as it is upheld between the parties involved that’s all that matters.”

“To each his own, I suppose.” She shrugged. “I’m your real estate attorney. What you do here is none of my business.”

Then why are you here, kitten?

“I’m very open, Arianna. If you have questions, I’ll be happy to answer them. People should be educated in my lifestyle. It isn’t as uncommon or bizarre as you may think.” He reached for her hand. “I hope you won’t judge me without getting to know me.”

“Um, no.” She looked down at their joined hands. He liked the way her cheeks turned colors when he flustered her. “Of course not. This whole environment is different. It’s going to take some getting used to.”

“I understand.” He ran his thumb over the soft skin of her hand. “If you’d prefer not to meet here anymore—”

“It’s not a problem.”

“Very well.” He smiled because as he suspected she wanted to be there. “Will you join me for dinner?”

Martin couldn’t remember the last time he’d asked a woman to have dinner with him. He usually just summoned a sub when he was in the mood for company. Gracie was the last woman he’d spent any time with at all. Perhaps it was time to explore his options. Obviously, Arianna would be different than the women he dealt with, but he liked the change. When Gracie left him for Cade everything changed. He hadn’t been interested in another sub. As a matter of fact, he hadn’t been interested in another woman until now.

“I’d love to join you for dinner, Mr. Abrams.”

“I’d like you to call me Martin.” Allowing people to use his name wasn’t a privilege he granted often, but everything was different with her. He stood from the bar and picked up her briefcase.

“I hope you like Italian. I ordered enough for six people. I wasn’t sure what you would want.”

“Italian is fine.” She took his extended hand and walked to the back of the club with him. “Why didn’t you just wait and ask what I would want?”

“I’m not used to asking.” He motioned for her to take a seat in the huge u-shaped booth that overlooked the Manhattan skyline.

“Oh, Martin.” She giggled. He liked the way his name tumbled off her lips. “You have a lot to learn about non-submissive women.”

Surrender to Me is the sequel to Make Me Stay but both books stand alone so the reader can choose to read either one first. You may want to start with Make Me Stay to get the back story.

Both Books available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and ARe

It's been a pleasure having you here, Ella. Tell us something about yourself.

Ella Jade has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a child, she often had a notebook and pen with her, and now as an adult, the laptop is never far. The plots and dialogue have always played out in her head, but she never knew what to do with them. That all changed when she discovered the eBook industry. She started penning novels at a rapid pace and now she can't be stopped.

Ella resides in New Jersey with her husband and two young boys. When she's not chasing after her kids, she's busy writing, attending PTO meetings, kickboxing, and scrapbooking. She hopes you'll get lost in her words.

You can find Ella here…

During this tour I’m giving away a $10 Amazon gift card to help feed your reading addiction. Click here:

(This blog post by Christi Williams was previously published on Torrid Temptations, May 25, 2013.)

I had a comment on my Facebook page from a twenty-something young man, asking if all the inspiration for my writing came from intimate encounters.  A woman writer in a Facebook cross-promotion group was confused after I listed my book under Romance and asked if erotica was indeed romance.

I’m going to make a broad assumption, probably one that stereotypes women. But I think if an explicit book has no romance, it isn’t going to sell to women. I have to say, as a writer of sensual romance, that personally I find page after page of descriptions of sex limiting. I read a lot of explicit romance and tend to skip over the graphic parts if they go on too long. I want some story along with the sex.

To bolster my argument that erotica needs romance, I’ll use Torrid Books as an example, just because they’ve published my sensual romance, Take a Chance on Love. Torrid, a division of Whiskey Creek Press LLC, bills their company as having published “Burning, Passionate Romance for 10 years. Their submissions page says they’ve been publishing “Sensual and Erotica Romance since 2003. They explain it like this:

Sensual and Erotic Romance is a work that is both romantic and sexually explicit. Erotic Romance is not pornography. This genre is romance—love in all its beauty, but without the flowery words to describe body parts and actions

This publisher has three new lines seeking submissions:

1) Weave in a hot, sexy—perhaps even slightly taboo—romance and you have a
Twilight Temptation.

2) This is love, romance and sex in all its many guises, it’s Alternative Love!

3) The only new line not specifically mentioning romance is The Man Cave: A romantic plot or sub-plot is not mandatory, but may also be part of the story. Because it’s aimed at men. Which kind of proves my point. Men like their smut straight, and Torrid Books is aware of that. Women like their erotica romantic.

So, okay, you say.  Torrid Books is one publisher.

You’re right. Let’s move along.

In the order they come up on a Google search:

·  Ellora’s Cave bills themselves as the “premier publisher of erotic romance.”
·  Fanny Press publishes “erotic romances about polyamory, bondage, and the supernatural.”
·  Siren Publishing sells “quality erotic romance for the sophisticated reader.”
·  Carnal Desires Publishing offers “works of literary erotica targeting mature, sophisticated, uninhibited readers who frankly enjoy character-driven erotic romance novels.”
·  Phaze Books, covering all the bases in explicit romance, publishes “Erotic Romance and Women's Erotica in eBook and print.”

I’m assuming these publishers know what sells. If they didn’t think women needed romance in their erotic reading, why would they strive so hard to keep emphasizing that what they’re selling is romance.

So back to my original questions: Is erotica romance, and does all my inspiration come from intimacy. I think I’ve answered the first. I haven’t much addressed the second because it’s a typical young man’s question to a woman who writes about sex. But here’s the answer: These are works of fiction, and all the hot fantasy men, sexy invented women, and the made-up erotic sexual situations that occur between them in my books are complete figments of my imagination.

My fiction is contemporary, so the settings and the characters are completely modern and struggle with today’s issues. But the men and women in my writing leave a big footprint, because their personalities and their solutions to problems hark back to the iconic days which really don’t exist anymore. My characters truly live by the Code of the West.

Christi Williams writes sensual romance set in Wyoming. My strong heroines love cowboys and lawmen! I love hearing from readers, so please contact me.

Tuesday Tantalizers is pleased to welcome Katya Armock as she interviews Jorge, from To Hiss or To Kiss

Chloe can “talk” to animals…so why can she hear the thoughts of this hot, green-eyed man?

Abandoned by her mother and raised by a father who’d given up on life, Chloe doesn’t let anyone get close. Lucky for her, she can communicate with animals—telepathically. Animals are the only people she needs. When a suspected dogfighting ring comes to her attention, Chloe decides to do a little spying. In her rush to win the dogs’ trust, she almost gets caught.

Until a sexy stranger intervenes, and she finds she can overhear his thoughts. She’s never been able to hear people, and this man’s about as sexy as she’s ever seen. It’s more than intellectual curiosity that drives her to discover his secret: Jorge is a jaguar shape-shifter, and the presence of this cat among the dogs might be a bit too much to handle. But the animal attraction is just too hot to resist, and the passion between them makes both the sparks—and the fur—fly…

Today, we get some insight into Jorge’s mind.

     1. How do you feel being the main character of a book?
It’s actually rather humbling and somewhat mortifying. I’m just glad the book is from Chloe’s point of view so Katya didn’t write what was in my head all the time.

     2. Why did you choose your current profession?
It’s a family business, although my brother and I were instrumental in expanding the technology focus. I can’t deny that I enjoy playing with technological gadgets.

     3. If you could work in any profession outside of what you're doing now, what would it be and why?
Perhaps if I had less family obligation, I’d spend more time in the lab doing R&D. As is, I seem to end up focusing on financial assets more, which if fine. I’m good at it.

     4. If you could change one thing that the author wrote (or told) about your life, what would it be?
I can’t believe Katya let Chloe share some of the thoughts she picked up on when we first met. That was before I knew Chloe could hear my thoughts and before I told her I was a shape-shifter. Oh, and Katya said I blushed once. I don’t blush.

     5. What's your greatest strength?
Well, my jaguar half is pretty strong, but I’m sure that’s not what you mean. I’d like to think my intellect is my greatest strength. Luckily, Chloe thought I was a sexy nerd.

     6. What's your greatest failing?
I am guarded. Keeping the existence of shape-shifters under wraps makes me cautious. I also am slow to trust people with the secret. It makes it difficult for me to build intimate relationships.

     7. Who is your favorite relative and why?
My Uncle Roberto. He is the only other one in my close family who is a shape-shifter, and he’s the most laid back. I love my family, but they can be a bit much to take. I’ll be interested to see what Chloe thinks when she meets them.

     8. If you could change one thing about another character in the book, who and what would it be?
I would make Chloe’s father more open. I doubt he realizes the impact his distant attitude has on Chloe. I don’t know that she fully realizes it either. I want her to be happy, and I think a better relationship with her father would make her happy.

     9. What makes you happiest?
Being with Chloe.

     10. What annoys you most?
Assholes. You can take that however you want.

Katya, would you tease us with an excerpt from To Hiss or To Kiss?
“Despite how things were left last night, I am still concerned for your welfare, Chloe. It was not my intent to upset you last night. I am, uh, I am…”
I want to jump in and finish his sentence with something like “stupid,” “mercurial,” “heartless,” “a cad,” et cetera, but I bite my tongue. I did, after all, admit I might already be in love with him earlier today. Perhaps I shouldn’t do anything to completely screw this up.
So instead of a biting retort, I soften my expression but still stare mercilessly, willing him to look back up and meet my eyes.
He finally looks up, his eyes pleading with me to understand. “…I do not do well interacting with people. And I don’t tell people my secrets.”
I find myself melting a little when I see some chinks through the wall he erected last night. “Yeah, well, I can understand that.”
He looks mildly surprised that I’m not berating him or stomping past him to get in my car. Am I really that harsh?
Yeah, maybe. No, definitely, if I go on what he’s seen of me.
“You do?” He looks more vulnerable, and therefore more sexy, by the minute.
“I know having to hide a part of yourself puts up a pretty big barrier to maintaining relationships,” I say, and find I mean it. I smile. “And you do seem like kind of a nerd, too.” I’m relieved by the slight upturn to his lips.
“A nerd?”
“Yeah. You’re quiet and I bet you know a lot. You’ve got a bookish vibe.” At that he seems a little crestfallen, and I worry I just undid any repairs I’d made to this incredibly awkward conversation/relationship/future marriage/whatever.
“That’s not a bad thing. Nerdy can be cool. I’m somewhat of a science nerd and bookish myself. And you’re a pretty sexy nerd, so it’s all good.” Oh, God. There go my capillaries again.
I decide the best way to save face is to keep staring at him, so I see his mouth widen into a satisfied grin. His nervousness seems to have evaporated, and he’s back to cool cat. “You think I’m sexy?”
“And if I do?”

Please give us the links where we can buy To Hiss or To Kiss.
Please tell us more about author Katya Armock and give us links where we can find you.

I like books that are funny and fun to read (and hot!) but also make me think or look at the world in a new way. I am influenced by magic realism, comparative mythology, and esoteric spiritual practices from around the world.
I spent too many years chasing someone else’s definition of success. My life simplified, I returned to my first love of writing.

These days you’ll find me writing, pet sitting, juggling a number of freelance gigs, and reigning as my home’s domestic goddess. I live in the Midwestern U.S. with my husband, dog and cats. Alas, I have, as of yet, been unable to teach my husband how to purr.
